I grew up on the Eastern Shore of Lake Simcoe in a town named  Beaverton, in an area named Cedar Beach. Back then we were the only “Year Rounders” on the Beach. It was a very different time and Neighbors watched out for Neighbors. The families on Cedar Beach were all close and we could all count on each other whenever we needed anything.

We kept an eye out for our neighbours…

No one locked their doors or had home security systems. I started by cutting lawns, making sure that people’s cottages were ready to enjoy when they arrived from the city.

From that I also started to help install docks and provided some minor landscaping. Depending on the weather, most families locked up their cottages around Thanksgiving and didn’t come back until the spring.

The problem with squatters didn’t exist back then…

The only intruder might be the occasional family of Squirrels or Raccoons that took refuge inside, or a retaining wall that was damaged by the Ice Flow.

It wasn’t until the 1980s that things really started to change. There were the occasional break-ins and thefts. As time went on, it became more problematic so I decided to do something about it.

I started a home sitting and weekly walkthrough service…

This included collecting mail, shovelling walk ways and driveways to make it look occupied. Eventually the problems stopped.

Time passed and I moved away and started working in Film and Television. I started as a Daily. I worked hard and eventually worked my way up to where I became what is known as an “Above The Line” Driver and Security.

I worked with Directors, Executive Producers, Producers, Showrunners, Actors and their families. I made sure that from the moment that they landed at Pearson until their productions wrapped and they went home that they were made to feel safe and secure. I have been working in the business since 1996 and have since decided to retire and move back up North. 

A lot has changed…

Not just the population, but the amount of homeless people that have moved out of Toronto as well. So I made a decision to take my years of experience and put it into the service of others.

I will give that same Peace of Mind to homeowners who shouldn’t have to worry about losing everything they’ve worked for to people who have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
